QUESTIONS

  1. What do you remember about your last day at LHHS?  I remember being embarrassed at Graduation because I didn’t know the words to the school song and I was on the stage facing everyone.  (I was in the band…yes, David, we had a band…and had always played the flute to the school song.)

  1. What did you do in the summer of ’65? Sailed on White Rock Lake with my boyfriend Craig Coltharp.  Cruised Charco’s with Sherry Shields.  Watched my brother and Mike Montgomery work on a Jag and build a sailboat in our garage.

  1. What did you do the next school year? I majored in art at NTSU.

  1. College? Graduated in Art from NTSU in 1969 and in Art History from SMU in 1975.

  1. Were any other Wildcats with you?  Tons…Diane Moore, Dean and Suzie, Sarah Scott, Kathy Cowan Finn, Sue Cooper, Bill Janes, Sandy, Carolyn, and a lot of other folks I can’t remember right now.

  1. Military service? Does dating pilots count???

  1. Did you ever get married?  More than once?  Once was enough.

  1. Children? No

  1. What did you do for a living for the first ten years after LHHS? Taught children Art at LHJH.

  1. What did you do for the second ten years?  Still at LHJH…31 years altogether…hey, it was a block from the house!

  1. Where do you live? (city and state) Dallas…same house as in High School, except I’m rebuilding it from the slab up…it burned to the ground at 4 AM November 16, 2006.  Four houses were involved…two burned totally…14 fire trucks.  I lost my pets, photos, paintings…everything.  I was in Fort Worth opening the TAEA conference when I saw my house engulfed in flames on TV at 6 AM…  As of April 1, the new house is bricked and insulated.  I should move back at the end of May.

  1. What do you do now?  UNT—supervise art student teachers for the College of Education and the School of Visual Arts.  Texas Art Education Association—president. Rebuilding the house.

  1. Do you stay in contact with any LH classmates?  I have so many great friends from LH.  Sarah Scott organized an art benefit for me to help me re-stock my studio and Sue, Steve and Beverly came as did my college roommate, a former student, and lots of past colleagues.  I see Lynn Wilson every Monday at Bible Study Fellowship.  I trade jokes and news via email with a host of alums from all my high schools (I saved the best high school for last!)  Parties keep us together.  I am blessed with good friends!

  1. If you could change anything about your high school experience, what would it be?  Loved all three high schools.  Wish my Mom had been healthy during those years.

  1.  As you approach retirement age . . . are you ready?  I retired from LHJH in 2000, but my friends say I have ‘flunked’ retirement.  Building a house and teaching and planning TAEA conferences—keeps me from napping!

  1.  In your opinion, what is that “certain something” that has kept so many of our class so connected for so long?  We really like each other and care about our friends.  Just really good folks.

  1.  If David Wise would share his “Wayback Machine” and take you to 1962, would you go?  Don’t think so…still had those orthopedic shoes and bad hair!!!

  1.  Anything you want to ramble about . . .   The years I have lived in LH have been so wonderful.  Since I moved so much during my public school years, I didn’t have a real home town until I came to LH. I love running into former students and high school friends.   I have lived in my original LH home since 1976 and I will miss the old place.  The new version will be very open and I put bay windows on the front—better for the Mrs. Kravitz snooping!  I didn’t build a McMansion!!  The neighbor’s architect was my student when he was in the 7th grade.  The fire was devastating, but many, many blessings have resulted and I am so thankful for the support and help from so many friends, neighbors, and colleagues.  God has taken good care of me!
